Ujjain holds Mahakaleshwar among the twelve jyotirlingas. The bhasma aarti has to be arranged from the night before. A bath in the Shipra and Kal Bhairav also belong to the town. In a Simhastha year the city becomes a Kumbh.
For the dawn aarti, prepare both for lost sleep and for a crowd. The temple announces dress and entry. Read them again the day before you go.
