The Vaishno Devi yatra from Katra is on foot, by horse, or by palanquin. The distance is not small. Ask a doctor about knees, heart, and breath before you start. Do not compel children or elders. Read the registration rules before you travel.
Carry water and a warm layer. Hold hands in the crowd. The return is walked in the same day's tiredness. Stay in Katra. Do not stitch a rushed train to the end of the climb.
