Sanskar
Antyeshti
The last journey: a rite for the body, and a support for the family.
When
After death, as promptly as family custom asks.
Antyeshti is the last sanskar in the cycle of a life. The body is offered to fire or earth, the name is spoken, and the family is not left alone in grief. This page is not a loud manual. Grief needs few words and clear help.
Shraddha is the memory that follows. The tenth, eleventh, or thirteenth day depends on the family. Offer what your house already keeps. Do not add a rite out of fear. Pratishthaan's counsel for this hour is to go slowly.
This is a general introduction. Sequence, materials, and timing change with family, region, and shakha. Your priest and your own custom have the last word.
