Ayodhya

The city on the Saryu, home of the Rama katha.

When Ram Navami draws the largest crowd. The rest of the year is gentler.
Region Uttar Pradesh

In Ayodhya the bath in the Saryu and darshan of Ram Lalla are the centre of the yatra. Evening at the ghat, Rama katha, and the older temples of the town make one tirth. The journey is one of faith. Leave the language of dispute off the ghat.

Book a stay well ahead for festival days. On ordinary days a morning bath and a daytime darshan sit easily together. If a local Ramlila is on, keep an hour for it. Ayodhya's story also lives on stage.

This is a general introduction. Sequence, materials, and timing change with family, region, and shakha. Your priest and your own custom have the last word.
