Badrinath stands on the Alaknanda. In winter the murti is brought to Joshimath, so darshan moves there after the doors close. The road is high. If someone has troubled breathing, or if children and elders are travelling, ask a doctor before you go.
Pandukeshwar and Joshimath are places to break the journey. Festival queues are long. Pack warm clothes and keep a spare day for rest. The mountain does not hurry.
